Indian Festival

Walking the grounds
The dancers from Houston
Waiting in line for the elephants
Shouting those "new words"
Taking a break from the line
Barsana Dham
Riding the elephant!

After the ride
Her new little bangle that jingles/rings when she walks
The Indian Festival was amazing. Now we were pretty pooped after the Wiener dog races/county fair so our goal was to just hurry and go ride the elephants (Oh yes, you are correct I said ride the ELEPHANTS!) and hurry home to make dinner, bath, bed etc. So we hurry and get there and first of all it's beautiful, hills, trees, flowers and water fountains. It's their own compound with their temple, cafeteria, orchard, and houses. It was like walking into another country they had music going, almost everyone their was in traditional clothing and speaking their language. (Now this was when we first got there about an hour after the festival had started before all the umm lets say "austinites" got there.) We all enjoyed it. Travis and Wyatt set out to wait in line for the elephant rides. (Two hours long) So I would take Wyatt and Kailyn around the grounds while Travis (who is the most amazing father and husband stood in line the whole time keeping their spot for two hours so Wyatt could ride an elephant) in between waiting Wyatt got to bounce around with all the other kids in a moon walk thing (one of many they had) and while in there learned a couple of new words of a different language. I don't know what they mean but the little boy and his father who were by Wyatt, also saying these words, seemed to know. (And by their expression it was funny words not inappropriate so that's a plus) Finally they got to ride the elephants. Wyatt loved it (so did Travis) even though he insisted on driving the elephant, (Wyatt did, not Travis) which to his dismay was not allowed. But after he realized this he was very happy to be on an elephant. Kailyn had a nice time walking around and she loved the dancers. She kept twirling.  I'll have to record her next time she dances. Then we hit the little tents where they were selling all sorts of stuff. And I really wanted to get Kailyn a anklet with the little bells. So after searching I was just going to get her bunch of little bangles (bracelets) but then Travis saw this necklace he liked and wanted me to get and the guy threw in a bracelet and earrings with it so Kailyn got her jingling anklet (the bracelet that came in the set) and I got a pretty necklace! I love living in Austin where they have so many fun things to go out and do as a family!

Looks like you guys had fun! We didn't have time to make it. Shucks. I've always wanted to ride an elephant. So much for Travis doing homework!

Travis is awesome. What a great dad. That's so neat that they both got to ride the elephants. I'll have to come to Austin to ride the elephants since I never I got to in Indonesia like you and the rest of the family. I need to see you necklace and earrings.

I am so happy you take advantage of all the fun very inexpensive events close by. Ashley you are always so good to keep your eyes open for these potential memories. Yes, that is it I will call you the, "Memory Maker.!" So, you my dear like your sister need to be on the other side of the camera as well. You will find you have albums of family pictures that contain very few of your childrens mother. So, hand that camera off to Travis (the really good Dad) and get more of you. Besides (and no offense Travis) but Ashley is by far the prettier of the two of you. lol
