Austin!

We arrived in Austin, Friday evening and checked into the Omni Hotel, and the kids got little goodie back packs and we went swimming in the big indoor/outdoor pool!
Dinner was suppose to be at the Woodland but it closed! So we rushed and grabbed an Austin's Pizza and some Chilantro for Trav and I.

Morning started with Round Rock donuts as big as a child!
They're delicious.

Gus "sharing" a piece of the giant donut that he mostly ate...

Then we headed over to Zilker park!

 The kids played.
The caged area above is where they house the special barton springs salamander and if you go in you get arrested and fined and all this other stuff...Gus didn't believe me (or all the signs) and kept trying to get in there.
 Barton Springs pool!
Fed from underground springs, pretty cool!

Travis took the boys canoeing.
So Henry, Kailyn and I took the train and got a cool treat while we waited for it.
Got this mango popsicle for Henry, he ate the WHOLE thing!

One thing I love about Austin is all the local companies. This was a Goodpop and it literally was mango and water. Perfect for babies!
 On the train!
 Our view.
Henry was out shortly after the train started, Kay followed about 3 minutes later.
After the ride was over we resumed our position in the shade on a bench and Kay made two pigeon friends which she was happy about.
Boys getting ready to go canoeing!
Wish we could have all gone, but so glad they got to go!!

Downtown.

Travis paddled up under the bridge and let the kids off and then pushed away from the bridge and told them to pretend like he left them so he could send me a picture of it. A guy canoeing by looked very concerned Travis said...as was I when he showed me/told me all about this. They had life jackets though so thats a plus!

Boys coming back from canoeing!

After Zilker we headed over to the Capital Museum (free) to get out of the heat and find something for our memory box.
The kids had fun reading, dressing up, watching history movies, listening to excerpts about the history of Texas and even stamping paper with a real seal of Texas!

After seeing this picture, these shorts have been burned.
So unflattering. Promise my hips aren't that huge.
 Little prairie girl!
Gus was so cute telling everyone he was talking to the President!

After the museum we walked across the lawn to the capital.
It's so pretty and this whole day made me miss Austin oh so much!

 Family picture? Whaat??
With all members of the family!!
After the Capital we headed over to the Military Forces Museum (free)
The kids love it and had fun walking around seeing all the new things they have now.

Sitting in the cock pit of a jet!

 He was so happy!

Travis told Wyatt to lay down in front of it so it looked like it was running him over, Wyatt was embarrassed (people were close by) so declined. Gus however was super excited to lay on the ground by a huge tank. He was so excited he had a hard time playing dead.
Why does Travis insist on pictures like these??
After the museum we went over to Mt. Bonnell and climbed up the 102 steps to the top!
Wyatt even peed off of it.
Not pictured, obviously.
Walking back on the trail we heard a loud and fast rustling and I was petrified it was going to be a huge snake and was getting ready to chuck kids in the opposite direction when a big field mouse scurries across. SO glad it wasn't a snake!

After Mount Bonnell we headed over you Mayfield park to explore and check out the peacocks!
The had so much fun listening to the birds talk back and forth and hike around for a bit (it was dinner time by this point so we had to get going).

After we went to dinner at Jack Allens Kitchen.
It was delicious!
And all local delicious food!
After dinner we headed home where I finally got sleep but really am sad to have left Austin!
Thanks for a fun vacation family!
