Money saved, money spent.

To get the kids to join me for a diaper run, I used the "but we can look at toys" gimmick. Now my kids have figured out, rather quickly, that that's exactly what we do. We just look at toys we don't buy them.
Today all that changed.
I was trying to get them out the door when they asked
K and W: Could we maybe, please, buy something, like a toy?

Not really thinking, seeing as how my usual response is no sorry, just diapers I said
M: With your money.
K and W: WE CAN BUY SOMETHING!
M: With YOUR money.

You would have thought I gave them the moon! They quickly grabbed their money jars (Travis had counted their money a day or two ago) and were gushing with "I love you momma" and "this is the best day ever!" and "you are the greatest mommy in the whole WORLD!" Even when I reminded them that I wasn't buying it and that they were using their money, they were just so happy and gracious that I was allowing them to use it! (Which for the record I've never NOT allowed them to they just never want to spend it, which is awesome and double awesome because they had saved up so much) So Kailyn set out for a new baby doll and Wyatt for LEGO Star Wars X-Wing. Wyatt picked out a little purse he found filled with princess hair accessories because he thought Kay would want it. Boy, did she ever! She was so excited and loved it and even had enough money to get a princess baby doll to use the hair stuff on! She picked Ariel, who really is a gorgeous little doll, which I mentioned to her. So now when she plays with it she introduces it like so "Oh, hello this is my gorgeous baby, me and my gorgeous baby are going for a walk. Do you like gorgeous baby? Do you think she's gorgeous?"
Wyatt had no luck finding his Star Wars Lego X-wing at Target and was just going to get whatever. Now I strongly disagree with this because the point of saving your money is not just to blow it on whatever, you use it on what you really wanted and saved for. Which for him was Star Wars Lego Boba Fett ship which changed deeply once see the actual STAR WARS movie and is all about the good guys and X-wings. So I insisted that if that's what he really wanted he should get that and he said he did but they didn't have it. So we called around and found it at the Lego store and off we went. He was 11 cents short, but he had that 11 cents at home but we just opted to have the kids take their cash only and leave the coins at home, so Daddy helped him out with the 11 cents. Of course they went to work on it as soon as we got home. Tomorrow I'll post pictures of the awesome work they did. It's pretty intricate and he sure does love it.

Playing with Ariel aka Gorgeous baby while we wait for Daddy and Wyatt to emerge from the LEGO store.

She loved it!
Gus opted for a nap.
Later I took this crazy boy to the doctor by myself. The kids wanted me out of the house, so they could watch a cartoon, Daddy lets them and Mommy doesn't so it makes sense to get rid of the hold up.
So after Gus's appointment we found out he does NOT have some sort of flesh eating bacteria of any kind and that it's just bad eczema that's making it appear like he's loosing his skin pigment we waited around for his prescription at Bed Bath and Beyond. I had a gift card from when Trav and I first got married (almost six years ago) and it still had money on it. SO I was determined to get something and use up this card that I didn't want to keep track of anymore.
Gus and I had such a fun time walking around the store together busting a gut. That boy sure can laugh, I love it!
He even found a Mickey cup! Gus LOVES Mickey mouse, thanks to his Aunt and Uncle Disneyland, he sleeps with it every night and protects it with his fists.
So I used up the card (hooray!) and Gus now has a Mickey cup.
