Kailyn's birthday was a mess. Travis was told he'd be in town the week before and not on her actual birthday. So we made plans to celebrate it the week before. She wanted a little playdate birthday party, then a family party that evening. Then Travis ended up not being able to come home so we did her day party anyways. She wasn't happy that Daddy wasn't there so refused the family party that evening, sorry cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents, just trying to make her happy.
She requested a Doc Mcstuffins party.
Above is what was in the goody baskets, stuff around the house (bandaids, cotton balls, crafts sticks aka "tongue depressors") and then
I found the real stethoscopes at allheart.com ($3) and the clipboards at office max ($1.50) Marie kitties aka patients, disney.com ($5). Just incase any mom's out there wanted to know for future Dr. parties..
Dr games.
We had Dr school where they had to learn what each tool does, how to preform a check up (reviewing the checklist) then we played guess the diagnosis where they had to guess the name of what was wrong with the animals or "patients". Ex: Pascal can't get his tongue out of his mouth, does he have A. tailbrokeitits B. Tonguestuckitis or C. spotitis?
We also did a relay race with tongue depressors and cotton balls balancing them as they try to get them into the red bowl. Then they got their clip boards and stickers and started decorating them. Then they got stethscopes they had to put together, it was kind of like a puzzle. After that they graduated and received dr badges and got their first patient, white kitty. Then after everyone did a checkup on their kitty we decorated cupcakes and sang to the birthday girl!
Our cheap and effective decorations. And our birthday sign that went perfect with the colors!
Waiting for her friends to arrive!
Wyatt was taken out of school per birthday girls sudden last minute request :)
Happy pre-birthday baby girl!
The whole group eating their cupcakes.....check out Gus's perfect chocolate icing mustache!
Her first barbie... or Augustus's?
Kidding.. Kay loves/loved it, he's not allowed to even breathe by them..
Birthday hugs!
So since we celebrated early I let her open presents as they came in the mail. Her little critters and bunkbeds from Grandma and Grandpa Bromley as soon as she opened it "I am so happy right now! Like so so happy, right now!"
Her present from Grandma and Granpa dobson before...
and after! She loves it!
One of her pretty new outfits from Grandparents Kelley! She so fancy!
So her actual BirthDAY. was today March 12th. So we went to the beach!
Her little friend Paige and her Mom drove down with us. The kids had a lot of fun even though it was cold!
Kids having a blast!
Kailyn had a fun/rough time. She had a bit of a breakdown sobbing and missing her daddy. It's been really rough on her. He's been gone for over a month straight.
So when he showed up that evening an hour after she officially turned 5 years old well... it was just perfect! (and much like her birth hahha)
I can't believe you're five little Miss Kay. I love you so much and that is the number one thing I want you to know through all you're years of your life that your Mom loves you so much. I know I drive you nuts and vice versa but you are so funny and fun to play with. You are so creative and are the best little mommy around. I love being around you and you have an amazing fashion sense. Your Daddy and I both come to you for advice on our outfits and you most certainly don't hold back :). You are a very polite little girl and always share with others. And you don't say things that you know might hurt other feelings. You are VERY tough. People rarely hurt your feelings so when you come to me in tears over hurt feelings I have a hard time controlling my mother bear instincts...Kailyn you are incredibly smart and pick up on things so quickly! I know you are nervous about starting kindergarten this year but you will do so great and make so many new friends and Gussy and I will have lunch with you whenever you'll let us :) I love you sweet girl and am so lucky to be your mom.
Happy Birthday Kailyn!
Okay need a cool way to display shell collections.. any clues??

Happy Birthday, Kay! I didn't realize that she was Riley's age! For some reason I thought she was a year younger...so, they will both be going into kindergarten this year! How exciting/scary! haha... I'm way more scared than Riley is.
