Explaining Foreclosures to a 6 year old

We've been looking at houses a lot lately and a good chunk of them happen to be foreclosures. Now the kids are pretty observant in noticing the difference especially when things are trashed. So I was explaining why that was to the kids today on the way to school:

K: What about the house by Kylers can we go live in that one??
M: No sweetheart that ones pretty destroyed and it would take a lot of work to get fixed up.
W: Why do people do that to the houses??
M: That happens sometimes to a foreclosure.
W: What's a foreclosure?
M: It's when people can't pay the bank money back that they borrowed to get the house. Sometimes they lose their jobs or sometimes other things happen or come up that they have to pay for and then they can't pay the bank. And sometimes it makes people really sad and mad and they mess up the house.
W: Well where do those people live?? (in a kind of revengeful tone)
M: I don't know babe, they just lost their home.
W: Well I'm gonna find out and sneak into there house and sneak to there dresser and leave a whole bunch of money on it! And then, then! I'm gonna leave a note and say "here, but if you wanna move again you're probably going to have to go back and clean up your mess!"
That's what I'm gonna do!

I love my Wyatt.
