Travis was in town for a couple of days and he was going to miss Wyatt's birthday (which is the 15th) and once I found out the place we were originally going to have it (Police horse stables) wasn't doing birthday demonstrations anymore I had the idea to throw him a surprise party! It would be a total surprise because it was total last minute and not even his birthday! But his dad would be here. So two days before I explained to him that he couldn't have his birthday at the place he wanted anymore and if there was somewhere else or a different theme he wanted. He said "a Jet Pilot party at our house because you do the fun-nest birthdays MOM!"Well melt my heart, I started my google searches and was off to deliver. So since all Jet Pilots have to go to boot camp I went with that theme since inventing a flight simulator seemed a bit out of reach for the short amount of time. Though I did have plans to build it out of cardboard boxes around the TV and play an old school Nintendo jet game, but never-mind that moving on. So we told all the cousins and grand parents to come to the SURPRISE party on Saturday at 11. Luckily some came early because some of us were SO not going to be ready at 11! Thank you Katie and Roger and Hinda for your help!!!
So Wyatt arrived back home with Grandma and Grandpa and was surprised (almost) everyone was there and that we had it all decorated! We waited for cousins to arrive *cough* again *cough, cough* and started our boot camp! I started off explaining to them they were in boot camp and gave them their new names and dog tags. After which I taught them how to properly salute and then I swore them all in to the military. Pin the tank on the scope was next and of course my older two cheated. How? I don't know, but they did. So they got thrown out into the front lines. We then made our way outside and split into teams and played tug of war. Followed by marching drills and an obstacle course. They had to run through squares, knees up, almost like tires, and then army crawl under the "barbwire". Afterwards sent them off to detonate all the "bombs" aka pop all the black balloons covering the yard. (They LOVED THIS) Later I made them climb the rock wall while they were "under fire" aka me swatting them with a plastic bag that had the remains of the "bombs". I think that's all I made them do. Nope never mind then we played human battle ship aka throwing a ball over the tent trying to hit people out. That was probably the least fun. After all that I let them eat. I had Travis drape some green plastic over the swing set to make a giant tent that we labeled the "mess hall". Also a Big thank you to Travis for setting up the obstacle course and tent and sorry for being grouchy when you started doing that 15 minutes before people were suppose to arrive and not waay earlier like I kept nagging, because in the end it still got done and that's all that matters..right???
After eating we did "Air Force Academy" where they decorated paper and learned how to make a jet paper plane, then practiced flying them in the back yard. Followed by more bomb detonating...like I said they loved that!
Then FINALLY cake and presents and playing with presents.
Thank you all for coming and for participating in making Wyatt's birthday party so fun!!
Also thank you for the pictures Dad and Tosh since I spaced it and didn't!
"Ace" & "Hot Shot"
See my confused face on how she got a bullseye? Then I realized she was cheating. The giggling should have been my first clue..

"Half Pint" "Lil' Momma" "Goose" "Hot Shot" and "ACE"
not pictured "Haywire" and "Foxy"
Obstacle courses
Marching to courses.
Please excuse all of the extremely frumpiness going on in the left side of the pictures that is sometimes to the right and sometimes in the middle. Just ignore that part...please.
Tug of war!
"Mess Hall"
He wanted a Blues Angels cake..
The whole cake came out of the 9x13 pan in pieces. It was quite a task....but thats what I get for blowing up balloons all night instead of doing one thing at a time.
Luckily Wyatt loved it.
Presents!
I read online about how one parent called a month in advance and asked the armed forces recruiters if they could save anything for the party she was throwing for her kid. I figured I try it out... the day before. It worked! The army came to our rescue! Walked in and said I had an almost 7 year old having a party and LOVES the military and if there was anything.... they stopped me there and showed me all the stuff they had in the closets and started shoving stuff in a bag for him! So awesome! Thank you men! (And all the men and women who serve our country! We pray for you and your families daily.. especially Wyatt he prays breakfast, lunch, dinner and bed time for you all. You are always in our thoughts! Thank you!)
Goody bags.
Not much and last minute but they had fun with the parachute men and my kids are still wearing their dog tags, whistles, and tattoos. And the flags...great yard decorations for the 4th!
Happy Birthday Party Ace, We LOVE YOU!!!
